" We're here to facilitate your plant-based journey "

PlantPlate.com is here to provide the recipes, information, and practical advice needed to follow a healthy plant-based diet. Whether you're interested in improving your health, losing weight, or eating more sustainably, a whole foods plant-based diet may be the perfect solution for you.

My name's Emma, and I started PlantPlate in 2013 with the help of my husband Scott, a web developer and fellow plantivore. I’m a certified Plant-Based Nutritionist who loves to cook, and I've followed a plant-based diet for over a decade. Having lived in various locations throughout the world - sometimes on a shoestring budget, and often with irregular and demanding work schedules - I’ve had to constantly adapt my diet in order to make it work. It’s taught me a lot, and it’s motivated me to show others just how accessible and enjoyable this way of eating can be.

The recipes featured on PlantPlate are based on minimally processed plant foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. They're free from all animal products, processed oils and refined carbohydrates, and are made with simple and affordable ingredients. Our articles are aimed at providing you with plant-based know-how when it comes to shopping, cooking, nutrition and day-to-day living. We have answers to common questions and share practical knowledge that we have acquired through experience. Finally, the resources section contains links to books, DVDs, and video presentations from some of the world's leading experts on plant-based nutrition. It is our hope that these resources will help you to fully understand and evaluate the health benefits of this wonderful way of eating.

Welcome to PlantPlate!  We hope you enjoy your visit. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email us at contact@plantplate.com.

DVDs and Documentaries

Informative, eye-opening, and in some cases even life-changing, these DVDs and documentaries are a great introduction to the world of plant-based nutrition and eating.

There are plenty of fantastic documentaries and DVDs out there with a whole-foods plant-based diet as the central topic. Watching films like Forks Over Knives and Processed People is a fantastic way to introduce yourself or your loved ones to the concept of plant-based eating. Others are aimed more specifically at furthering your knowledge in the areas of cooking, shopping, nutrition, and preventative medicine.

Forks Over Knives

The documentary that inspired thousands of people around the world to adopt a plant-based diet, and one you HAVE to see. Featuring interviews with 28 world-renowned experts - including Dr. T Colin Campbell, Joe Cross, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Pam Popper, and Dr. Michael Greger - this film will certainly change the way you look at the food on your plate!

Set against a backdrop of colorful and delicious food grown by organic farmers and prepared in the kitchens of world-famous chefs, PLANEAT brings together the ground-breaking studies of prominent scientists Caldwell B. Esselstyn and T. Colin Campbell in an informative and visually appealing way.

Processed People

Two hundred million Americans are overweight and 100 million are obese. More than 75 million Americans have high blood pressure. 24 million people are diabetic. In this 40-minute feature, nine of the world's leading environmental and nutrition experts discuss how and why America got into this mess, and what we can do (or eat) to avoid becoming one of these statistics. An excellent watch.

The Engine 2 Kitchen Rescue with Rip Esselstyn

Rip Esselstyn, author of 'The Engine 2 Diet', teaches two families how to shop, cook, and thrive on a whole-food plant-based diet. An excellent introduction to the basics, and very practical for families.

Jeff teaches you how to navigate the shopping aisles to find healthy, oil-free, low-sodium options for cooking healthy plant-based meals. Very informative and highly practical.
